Mare Internum

Mare Internum is a chapter-based visual narrative on origins and identity (re)construction in contemporary Europe and the Mediterranean. Framing the “inner sea” as both geography and interior condition, the work follows personal and intergenerational trajectories across Marseille (base), Poland (maternal origins), and Morocco (paternal origins). It reflects on my relation to my parents, inherited histories, and the fragile architectures of belonging that emerge along the coast. I photograph the necessity of staying near the water, ultimately to remain close to distant shores.
The project brings together photography, underwater imagery, sound composition, and cartographic works. the observer encounters an evolving emotional cartography that reimagines Europe and the Mediterranean through relational, affective, and lived geographies rather than fixed borders. developed as part of the seaside photographic commission from the centre photographique de marseille and the Archives et Bibliothèque Départementales des Bouches-du Rhône, with the help of fotodok in the netherlands as well as the 2024 mentorship program of ENSP in Arles.

Mare Internum est un récit visuel en chapitres consacré aux origines et à la (re)construction de l'identité dans l'Europe et la Méditerranée contemporaines. Envisageant la « mer intérieure » à la fois comme une géographie et comme un état intime, l'œuvre suit des trajectoires personnelles et intergénérationnelles entre Marseille (port d'attache), la Pologne (origines maternelles) et le Maroc (origines paternelles). Elle interroge mon rapport à mes parents, aux histoires héritées et aux fragiles architectures de l'appartenance qui se dessinent en bords de mer. Je photographie la nécessité de rester près de l'eau, afin de rester finalement proche de rivages lointains.
Le projet réunit photographie, images sous-marines, composition sonore et travaux cartographiques. L’observateur y découvre une cartographie émotionnelle en devenir, qui réimagine l'Europe et la Méditerranée à travers des géographies relationnelles, affectives et vécues, plutôt que par des frontières figées. développé dans le cadre de la commande bords de mer du centre photographique de marseille et les Archives et Bibliothèque Départementales des Bouches-du Rhône, avec l’aide de fotodok aux Pays-bas ainsi que le programme de mentorat 2024 de l’ENSP à Arles.
