Harbour cities have an interconnectedness in their visual singularity. Vast surfaces of blue are heart-warming; closely associated with my sense of home. Having lived in Tel-Aviv (IL), Marseille (FR) and now Rotterdam (NL), the presence of water has always been an essential aspect of my environment. Looking at this relation between the urban and the natural, there are various contexts and practices to be found: at the shore, on a merchant ship, at the beach, with a fisherman; from tourism to commerce. VILLE/MER is a longterm study of the infinite ways in which people relate to and experience the joys of water.
